Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu 1954 1 September, a respected Muslim family was born in Kawla Madhyapara village under Terail upazila of Kishoreganj district. His father’s name is late Munshi Abdul Malek and his late Harunnessa.

Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu started his primary schooling in 1960. He passed SSC with merit in 1970. After passing HSC in 1972, he received Hons of Law in 1979-80 from Law University and Master’s degree in 1980-81.

In the student life he will be associated with student students. In 1980-81, students of Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall of Dhaka University were elected VP of the Parliament. He was the Chairman of the Red Crescent Kishoreganj District unit from 1988-90.

Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu participated in the Great War of Independence during the student days. He actively participated in sector 11 of the Liberation War. He served as the unit commander of the freedom fighter Dhaka University Dhaka until 1978-80. Serving as a member of the Editorial Committee of the Central Command Council of Muktijoddha Sangsad up to 1980-86.

Mujibul Haque Chunnu started his job as Assistant Judge (BCS Judicial). To engage himself in the welfare of common people, he quit his job in 1986 and started politics and later joined the law profession.

He was elected the President of the Jatiya Party of Kishoreganj district in 1986 and has been in office till date. He is a member of the National Party’s Presidium.

Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu was elected MP for four times and was elected a member of the Jatiya Party as a candidate of Jatiya Party from Mujibul Haq Chunnu Kishoreganj-03 constituency in the 1986 Jatiya Sangsad election. In 1988, he was again elected a member of the Jatiya Sangsad. In the 2008 parliamentary elections he defeated the BNP candidate by a margin of nine lakh votes. In 2013, he was elected a member of Parliament by a huge voter like Chittobar.

Md. Mujibul Haque Chanu Duties as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Establishment and Guaranteed Accounts since 1986-1990. He was the first Chairman of the Kishoreganj District Council till December 1988-90. He also served as a Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs from 2007-2013.

Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Deputy Minister of Land Minister till 1987-1988 until August. From 2013 to 21st November 2014 till 12th January, he took charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the all-party government during the elections. On January 12, 2014, he took the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Employment to the Awami League-led Ukitam government and took oath of state.

Md. Mujibul Haq Chunnu has personally and officially visited many countries including India, Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, China, Canada, Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, USA, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Dubai and Thailand. As a representative of the Jatiya Sangsad, Ethiopia, Uganda and Canada participated in three conferences of the International Palatinate Union, respectively. He joined the United Nations annual conference in New York in September 2013 as a tour partner with the Prime Minister.

Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu was married in August 1982. The wife named Roksana Kader is an official serving (additional secretary). Mujibul Haque (Chunnu) is proud of two sympathizers, his eldest son, Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Niloy Barrister Atal (Lincoln’s Inn, London) and younger son Israarul Huq studying in Canada.
