Dr. Captain Sitara Rahman

Dr. Captain Sitara Rahman is a female freedom fighter. He was awarded the Bir Prakkak title for his special contribution in the 1971 Bengal Liberation War.

Sitara Rahman was born on 5 September 1946 in Kishoreganj, Sitara Begum. Father Mohammad Israil and Ma Hakimun Nessa, however, in the marital formulas he is known as Sitara Rahman. During this time his elder brother Atam Haider was also working in the army. The autonomy movement was active in Comilla Cantonment during the bright days. She was the third among three sisters and two brothers. His father Israel Mia was a lawyer in the profession. With him Kishoreganj spent his childhood at Sitara Begum. After passing the matriculation from there, passed Intermediate from Hilikrase College and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College. When passed from Dhaka Medical College, he joined the army’s army commander (Army Medical) as lieutenant. Sitara Begum was engaged in Comilla Cantonment in the 1970s. At that time his elder brother Muktijoddha Major AT M Haider came to Pakistan from Comilla. He joined Comilla 3rd Commando battalion. In February 1971, Sitara and his brother Haider went to Kishoreganj’s house to celebrate Eid holidays. But at that time non-cooperation movement started in the country. Haider does not say to send his sister back to the cantonment. After that, he took his sister Sitara, parents and some freedom fighters sent India from neighboring India to Kishoreganj for about two weeks to reach Meghalaya.

For the treatment of wounded freedom fighters, the name of Bangladesh Field Hospital in Melaher is 480-bed hospital. There are many students of the last time of Dhaka Medical College. Captain Dr. Sitting was the commanding officer under Sector-2. He has to work regularly to bring medicine from Agartala. In the hospital there is an operation theater wounded freedom fighters, besides the Bengalis, the people of Indian army were treated for medical treatment. On December 16, 1971, Dr. Sitara came to Dhaka after hearing about the release of Bangladesh on radio. After the death of his brother Major Haider in 1975 Sitara and his family left Bangladesh and started living in the United States.
