Satyajit Ray’s ancestral house Kishoreganj district, just seven kilometers away from Katiadi upazila, there is ancestral house of Oscar winning filmmaker Satyajit Ray of Masua village. At one time this house was called ‘Jorasanko of East Bengal’. This house was born renowned Shishu Litterateur, musician Upendra Kishore Roy Chowdhury and Sukumar Roy Chowdhury. Family tradition had deeply influenced Satyajit Ray, who had never been in his ancestral home, so his heart was with Bangladesh.
Inside the house there are works of ancient architecture, gardens, elephants, playgrounds. There is a small pond on the back of the house and outside the main gate, there is a pond ghat, The house of Satyajit Ray’s grandfather is currently under the supervision of the government revenue department. This house has been identified around the barbed fence. The dormitory house of the dilapidated house is now being used as the museum union land office. In 2012, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation initiated the construction of a rest house with a cost of 59 lakh rupees, along with construction of boundary walls and roads.
Katiadi distance from Dhaka is about 90 kilometers. The buses that are going to Bhairab from Kishoreganj can go to any one of them in Katiadi upazila.
