Bhairab Upazila (Kishoreganj district) is about 139.32 sq km, 21 ° 11 ‘to 24 ° 22’ north latitudes and 90 ° 54 ‘to 91 ° 02’ east longitudes. Bajitpur upazila on the north, Raipura and Brahmanbaria sadar upazilas on the south, sural upazila on the east, Kulishr and Belabo upazilas on the west.

Population 247166; Male 125621, female 121545; Muslim 235847, Hindu 11224 ‘and others 73.

Water bodies Main rivers: Old Brahmaputra and Meghna

Bhairab Thana was formed in 1906 and it was turned into an upazila in 1983. Bhairab Municipality was established in 1958.

History of the War of Liberation On April 15, 1971, Pak army killed about 400 villagers including 250 Ibrahimpur civilians. They also killed many people in Manikdi mosque and in Ashuganj. On 13 December the Pak army destroyed the Bhairab Railway Bridge.
