Ivy Rahman (born July 7, 1944 – death: 24 August, 2004) was a politician and social worker of Bangladesh. His full name is Jebunnahar Ivy. He was an active member of Bangladesh Awami League. He received the Independence Day Award for his unique and glorious role in the liberation war and social service.

Ivy Rahman was born on 1 December 1944 in the village of Chandib, Bhairab police station of Kishoreganj district. His fifth position was between eight sisters and four brothers. His father Jalal Uddin Ahmed was the Principal of Dhaka College. Mother Hasina Begum was a Housewife. Her primary education career was completed at a school under Bhairab police station. Later, he obtained BA (Honors) degree in Bangla from Dhaka University.

Zillur Rahman, late President and prominent politician, married him at the ninth grade on 27th June, 1958. He was the mother of Tania and Mayna – 1 son of Nazmul Hasan Papan, a member of the family and two daughters of his family.
Career

While studying at Dhaka University, he was inspired by the principles and ideology of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and in his struggle for democracy. After the liberation war of Bangladesh began in 1971, India received arms training and primary medical assistance training. Besides, he used to read regularly on the Jaybangla Radio. In 1969, the founding organizer of the women’s Awami League was the organizing secretary. In 1978, Bangladesh Awami League’s central executive committee elected women affairs secretary. In 1980, Bangladesh was elected as the President of Bangladesh Awami League. He was in this position till 2002. Then Bangladesh took responsibility for women affairs secretary of executive committee of Awami League. He played a leading role in the re-organization of Bangladesh Mahila Samity. He was the general secretary of the association’s president and National Blind Welfare Association till the end of his life. From 1996 to 2001, he was the president of Women’s Association and National Women’s Association.
