Rebati Mohan Varman was born in Shishandhi village of Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district. His father Haranath Barman was a renowned lawyer. He got the title of Roy for loyalty to the English. He completed primary education in Pogose School of Dhaka and Government High School in Comilla. In 1922, Azim Uddin High School of Kishoreganj got the first position in the entrance examination under the University of Calcutta. Pramodaranjan Chakraborty and Gour Chandra Mandal also got the same number with him the same year. In 1928 he passed his MA with achievement. Prior to his graduation in the BA Examination, he had published the Jagtatriya Padak and the medal for selling his classmates with classical monthly ‘Binu’.
Although full and the children of British rule, Rebati Varman joined the Communist and anti-British struggle during his student days. In 1930-38, he remained confined in jail without trial. During his detention in Deoli jail, his body was given leprosy. During his imprisonment, he wrote a manuscript of numerous books of evolution, which was later published in the book form. In 1939, the National Book Agency was founded. In northwestern twenty-four Parganas district Belgharaya started the work of building labor movement. At this time leprosy affected his body. After the World War II began, police issued a raid on him and he went to Bhairab upazila in Bangladesh.
After Partition, due to communal riots in 1951, he had to leave his motherland and go to Agartala. Revati Varman died on 6th May, 1952 near Agartala.
