Syed Nazrul Islam was a Bangladeshi politician and a senior Awami League leader. Throughout the entire Pakistan Liberation War, he announced that he was the permanent governor of East Pakistan.
Syed Nazrul Islam (1925-1975) was a professional, politician and executive president of Permanent Government of East Pakistan in Mujibnagar. Syed Nazrul Islam was born in 1925 in Jamaladampur village of Kishoreganj district. He obtained MA degree in History in 1947 and obtained Law degree from Dhaka University in 1953. He took active part in the student life and was the editor of Salimullah Muslim Hall Bhaban (1946-47) and Muslim Student League. Syed Nazrul Islam was the captain and squadron of the Dhaka University cricket team and sports and sports secretary of Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSC).
Successfully Syed Nazrul Islam participated in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Central Superior Service in 1949 and joined as a political candidate in the department of taxation. He resigned from government service in 1951 to teach the academic academic history of Anandemohan School (Mymensingh). He later joined Mymensingh District Bar. He took active part in the language movement as a member of the All-Party Action Committee.
Syed Nazrul started his political career as a co-worker of Awami League. In 1957, he was the undiscovered President of the Mymensingh District unit of the party. Syed Nazrul Islam was Senior VP of the Awami League central committee from 1964 to 1972. After the imprisonment of the party chief Shaheed Mujibur Rahman during the movement with the six-point program of Awami League (1966-1969). By joining the leaders of the Democratic Action Committee, he played an important role in the anti-Ayub movement in 1969. He was the representative of Awami League at the Round Table in the Shaheed Center (1969) organized by President Mohammad Ayub Khan.
